A few things to consider before bringing AI in-house.
Do we need our own server to use Hedgerow?
No. For many B Corps, our hosted service is the simplest place to start: use Hedgerow without buying or maintaining AI hardware. If you need more control over hardware, energy supply or model selection, we can help you build an on-premises setup connected to our gateway and portal. We’ll help you decide which route fits your needs.
Will our team still use the Hedgerow portal?
Yes. Your team accesses the service through the same Hedgerow portal, with your business’s AI workload handled by your own on-premises server. We help set up the connection and get your team started.
Does that mean everything stays inside our building?
On-premises AI processing and an entirely on-premises service are different things. The portal remains online. Before rollout, we agree how requests reach your server, where conversations are stored, and who can access them. Optional web search and browser speech recognition can involve external providers; we review those features with you and agree what to enable to meet your requirements.
Can we use a server we already own?
Possibly. We start with your existing hardware, the work you want AI to do and the number of people using it. We then help you choose suitable models and capacity, and identify any hardware changes needed before you commit.
Is on-premises AI always the greener option?
It depends on the hardware, how much it is used, its electricity supply and its useful lifetime. Owning the server gives you more control over those choices. We help you consider them together; we don’t promise that every on-premises installation has a smaller carbon footprint.
How much does a business setup cost?
We scope each setup around your team, hardware, models and support needs, then agree a quote with you. This is a tailored business service, separate from Hedgerow’s personal subscriptions. Start by telling us what you want to achieve and what equipment you already have.
